There is an opinion that pollical leaders act as the catalyst of world progress, while others argue that scientists play a more important role. From my perspective, neither of the two views is justified enough to represent the entire picture; both parties make their claims based on stereotyping their ideas.

On the one hand, it is generalized to venerate politicians over others with reference to their relevance to social development. In retrospect, while there do exist some political figures who have made contributions to boost the progress of human civilization, it is illogical to assume the whole political community processes the same quality of its individual member; the appropriateness of using this idea should be determined on case-by-case basis. One convincing example can be seen in Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi who put the whole world in jeopardy by starting the second world war.

By the same token, it is also an erroneous belief when some people assume scientists superior to others in terms of their contributions to the world progressthose overestimating the role scientists are oblivious to the fact that the influence of any professional groups is domain specific and context dependent. Based on this, the discussion can then move on to handle questions as to which social impacts are more desirable in the local context and what local stakeholders value more. Indeed, in countries where technology breakthroughs are prioritized, it is scientists who deserve more admiration; however, in countries whose primary affliction are sociopolitical conundrums such as ethnic conflicts, I dont believe science will have much of a role to play.

From what has been discussed above, it is my conclusion therefore, both statements in the topic are generalized if not contextualized.
